Sweet Valentines Day

A Valentine project anyone can do!

I love seasonal greenery and flowers. 

This galvanized bucket is very deep, too deep to let the flowers peek over the top.  I fixed that with risers of old clay pots turned upside down.  The advantage is the pots will still absorb water from the bucket and allow the plants to drink!  

I admit I am a dollar store junkie.  They have so many wonderful things that can be used to create awesome stuff!  A few tweaks and a little creativity - WOW.

I got the (balsa) wood hearts (dollar store) in different sizes and I used my paper stash along with Alene's clear glue to cover the wood.  I had a thin wooden dowel rod and bought another one, (49¢) at Michaels (or Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes, etc).  Notice I used a red doily, they come in many sizes and colors at the dollar store too!  I trimmed mine to fit.

If you cannot find the wood hearts, you can cut foam core board from the dollar store.  It comes in large size sheets in the craft or school supply area.

You can paint the backside of the hearts and paint the dowel rods with acrylic paint (less than $1.00).

I started out wanting to use E6000 to glue the hearts together and the rods to the backs.  However, they are so lightweight I did not need to use that.  E6000 is great for sturdy adhesion however IT takes long to dry.  I glued the hearts together with Alene's clear glue and I actually used clear packing tape to affix the rods to the back of the hearts.  This is handy if you are going to store them and need to dismantle to lay flat.  

I have many hangers and nails in my garage walls on which I hang seasonal items and seasonal artwork. Saves space and it's cheery!  Happy creating!!

Do these flowers make my butt look big?

Easter is coming and the St. Pats Day decor is being replaced with bunnies and chicks and eggs and flowers.    Sadly this bunny lost his ears in the storage container.   Emergency surgery was required.

His ears were completely separated when I found him and he looked so sad.   Super Glue to the rescue.

Why stop there, any time is a great time for embellishments!  I used Memento Inks and Petaloo flowers.  Ink pads aren't just for stamping!  I wet the flowers and swiped them with ink, mixing the colors to match the bunny.   I think he looks better than before surgery!   When you unpack your Easter and Spring decor remember - Flowers make everything more beautiful!

His feet were even graced with flowers.

I believe everyone is thinking of SPRING

When mid-February arrives each year most people in the Northern Hemisphere are pretty much done with winter.

It's time to break out the flowers and colorful decor to cheer us up from the gloom of winter.
Here are a few items of inspiration for your home.

Paint an old frame (or dollar store / thrift shop frame) also get bunches of colorful flowers.   Hot glue them onto the frame in a pleasing arrangement and take a look at spring!  For extra pizzaz, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the silk flowers.  NOTE: Use painters tape to mask off the mirror before painting to keep it neat and clean.

Fresh smells of Spring can be so easy to have in your house,  What is your favorite scent?  Mine is Lilacs, nothing says spring to me like lilacs and hyacinth.  Use the essential oil of your choice with baking soda.  Or for a truly clean and freshening effect use only the baking soda and change it out every couple days.

Shake the jar daily to increase the aroma or cleansing.

Add our jar accessories to make it PRETTY and consider painting the jars with our chalk paints, and our DIXIE BELLE paints.  We have brushes, pro brushes, and sanding tools
