The COVER UP!

I have been watching several videos about Dixie Belle Chalk Paints and how they can cover up with one coat of paint.  I wanted to prove it to my self... and to you! 

I found this cute little cupboard that I intend to use in my studio for storage.  I wasn't too keen on the outside of it... so it has been sitting on the side waiting for the day I alter it!  The day came!!!

Starting with the top... this is after just one coat of Dixie Belle Sea Glass Chalk Paint.

That is some pretty wild pattern I am covering!  Here you can see how well the paint covers the pattern.

I would not hesitated to use Dixie Belle Chalk Paints on larger projects!

 

This is after one coat and it is almost dry.  All I can say is I am totally impressed by the paint!  I don't intend to do a second coat of paint.   I am happy with the results... Now to think about how I am going to embellish it.

Thrift store Up-cycle

I found this vase at the thrift store... Decided it would be perfect by my front door if it looked a little more earthy!

 Once it was painted, it dried for about 2 hours.

 Then it was ready for a coat of DIXIE BELLE VAN DYKE GLAZE!

I love how it turned out!  Perfect for my entry!

Dreaming of BEACHES!

It has been cold here far too long.. I am ready for nice warm beaches!

 

I decided to create my own beach with a sunset!  To start I have a shell almost the size of my hand that I found a the thrift store.First I paint the water in the shell using Dixie Belle Sea Glass Chalk Paint.  I let it dry a bit.  Then with Dixie Belle Swamp Mud Texture Medium I added a small sand beach...

 

The beach needed a beautiful coral sky lit by the setting sun, Dixie Belle Flamingo Chalk Paint was the perfect color.  To give the sky to effect I was looking for while the  Flamingo Chalk Paint was still wet I went over it with Dixie Belle Buttercream Chalk Paint.  I love the how this is turning out.  Next I add a little of  Dixie Belle Buttercream Chalk Paint to the Dixie Belle Sea Glass water for a small wave effect.    

 

Finally, I used the Dixie Belle Van Dyke Brown Glaze to paint the  Dixie Belle Swamp Mud Texture Medium for sandy color.

 

 

Right now I am sitting on the beach trying to decide what I will do here.  Comment and let me know what should happen with this peaceful beach!

Countdown to Christmas has begun!!!!

Use your DIXIE BELLE PAINTS to create your gift giving Christmas Ornaments.  I had these tiny star boxes in my stash that were just waiting for the perfect project.  I have turned them into little sea vignettes....

 

Using both the box and lids create twice as many little vignettes!

 

 

The little star boxes were painted with DIXIE BELLE Sea Glass Chalk Paint! 

 

Some of them have Washi Tape wrapped around the outside.

 

Small burlap squares make the perfect background.  

 

Dew Drops add a bit of sparkle!

 

Use tacky glue to attach embellishments

 

This box lid I left the back unpainted.

 

Others are painted inside and out!

 

Finally attach a twine hanger (to be added) 

 

Enjoy creating your own little ornaments...

 

These could be used all year round!

 

 

Give it in PARIS!

I had a white box that I have been wanting to use to do something
Parisian with it! 

My white blank board box didn't inspire me, I needed something more rustic.  Dixie Belle paints were perfect for the project.  The paints and glazes are great for any surface...wood, metal, glass, laminate, ceramic and even fabric! EVEN paper and cardboard!

 

I first painted the box with a thin almost dry coat of Dixie Bell Paint - ButterCream, the reason is the cardboard is pourous and I  didn't want the Dixie Belle - Vandyke Glaze to soak into the cardboard.

Next I painted a light layer with an almost dry brush of  Dixie Belle - Vandyke Glaze, that gave me the texture I was looking for on my box!  Now I have a rustic box to work with.

 

I stamped the Eiffel Tower with my Mailbox Muse Paris stamps with black ink! 

Dixie Bell Paint - Flamingo Paint with the Paris Stencil, be careful to stencil with a dry brush or rag... add layers of paint... avoid seepage under the stencil!

 

LET DRY!

 

Add  German Scrap around the edges for a little bling! Paint over the word Paris with Wink of Stella Pen!

 

Add a few paper handmade flowers and you have a beautiful gift box!

 

 

 

 

 

DIY a Fall Wreath

Using craft sticks a little paint and glue make your own wreath!!!  Dixie Bell Paint coverage is awesome.  You will love using it on your projects!

 

 

Supplies:
Dixie Belle Paint: Flamingo Chalk Mineral Paint and Van Dyke Brown Glaze
Large Craft Sticks
Cardboard
Tacky Glue
Ribbon
Floral stem

 

Cut 2 rings the size you would like your wreath (for sturdiness tacky glue the 2 rings together).  Outside of the ring is 8 inches across and the center 4 inches.

 

Tie a 12 inch piece of  ribbon around the cardboard to use to hang the wreath with when finished.

 

Layer about 50 large craft sticks with tacky glue on the cardboard, set aside to dry.

Once the glue is dry paint with Dixie Belle Flamingo Chalk Mineral Paint 

 

Set aside to dry.

With a  rag lightly paint with Dixie Belle Van Dyke Brown Glaze.

 

Let Dry.

 

Attach floral stem and bow!
